The design philosophy of the indigenous Landscape Concept is to create a holistic design based on indigenous design principles to give identity and continuity to the development. The Indigenous Landscape Concept is a dessert themed landscape based on the elements of the native Dubai environment. Each element is translated into particular landscape space that gives form and function to the design. The landscape has a sense of place and local identity. The reason for the Indigenous Landscape Concept selection is to create a design that fits within the local landscape in order to reflect the development’s intent. To design a landscape that stands out from its contemporaries and to create it’s own identity. This is a new community with a diverse population and with multi uses in a residential environment. This will be a sustainable landscape using the latest design techniques, materials and methods. An Indigenous Landscape Design.
The design philosophy of the landscape concept is to create usable public open spaces for streetscapes, parks and plazas. The vision is to create landscape environment where occupants can enjoy and relax. A park like setting whilst still feeling a sense of personal ownership of the public spaces. This is a public realm project and it’s principles have been applied to the project. The commercial landscape spaces include a vast away of mixed uses including streetscapes with site entrance features, pedestrian corridors and bike tails; different scale parks with playgrounds, splash pads, plazas, events lawns and sports courts: plazas with refreshments kiosk and seating areas; and site boundary planting.
The general focus is on outdoor living with the landscape designed to encourage access to the landscape areas. Streetscapes are laid out for easy access to all the open spaces. Overall the design intent is to encourage as much as possible the pedestrianization of the streets with open spaces for active and passive recreation. With the streetscapes running throughout the development and the strategically placed parks and plazas this is a development with a continuous and constant landscape that provides well being and comfort for the user.
